Small Groups and Exams

Cecchetti is a classical ballet system that was originated by Enrico Cecchetti in Italy.  It has developed graded systems for students; Primary, Grades I-IV and Professional Levels Grades V-VII.  Their teacher must be certified in the system through a process of classes and exams.  If you go to the Ohio Council of Cecchetti you will read lots of interesting things about the system.

Cecchetti offers “Primary Exams” to the younger students.  It is a wonderful opportunity for them to experience before they begin to do the major exams beginning with Grade 1.  For those that do the primary exams they seem to take their Grade 1 exam with a lot more confidence. The primary exam is an evaluation and not a pass/fail exam.

Small group Cecchetti classes are mandatory if you are considering taking your exams. The small group session runs for eight weeks and is in addition to their regular ballet class. We open these classes to all students working on the levels offered. Even if you do not take your exam at the end of the small group session, it certainly will be beneficial for whenever your next exam is scheduled.

Apparel for exams and all small group classes:

  • Black leotard
  • Pink tights with feet
  • Pink ballet shoes with elastic
  • Hair off neck and face and in a bun
  • Small post earrings only – no other jewelry
