About Taryn

This is Taryn’s fifth year teaching at Kathi’s Dance and Gym Center, and her fourth year as the lead choreographer for the Hip Hop program. As a student, Taryn danced at Kathi’s for 16 years where she received training in all styles of dance including Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, and Pointe. During her senior year at Kathi’s, she passed her Cecchetti Level VI Exam and performed in KDGC’s production of “The Greatest Showman” as Phillip Carlyle. Taryn recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Youngstown State University’s Honors College with a bachelor’s degree after majoring in psychology and minoring in dance. This past year, she was the Secretary of YSU’s Dance Ensemble, she performed with YSU’s Competitive Hip Hop Team, and she was a member of the Clarence P. Gould Honor Society. Taryn is a student assistant and dance teacher at SMARTS, a community art school in Youngstown that provides free classes in music, theater, creative writing, dance and visual arts to individuals of all ages. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the newly formed Squeaky Wheel Theater Company and has provided choreography for their musical productions. Taryn is tremendously grateful for all the experiences and opportunities she has received dancing and teaching at Kathi’s and she is immensely proud of all of her students.
